Setting up Cushycms

Follow this link to Cushycms and set up an account and add your site to your list(we will add the pages to change later). You can have more than one site to remotely edit in your account. Follow the demo video which explains everything you have to do to set things up.

Adding Cushycms code to your text box/photo. Here is a WP10 demo .wpp file to show the code.

Select your text box or photo > right click > attach html.

Text box - Follow the <div id= line across until you see  /*BorderDivStyle*/" __AddCode="InsideBorderDiv">

Add the cushycms text in front of the _AddCode=, So it looks as below

class="cushycms" - Tells the cushycms site that this text box is allowed to be edited.*(See note)

Title=”Test text box” - This is the tool tip that pops up when you have your cursor over the text box when looking at your site. You don’t have to have this in.

Picture - Follow the <img src= line across until you see _AddCode="here"> Add the cushycms text in front of the _AddCode="here">, So it looks as below

Adding Pages to edit - Go back and login to Chushycms > select the link to “Assign page to site...”

Give the page a name > “select the page to be editable” from the list from your web site.

Editing pages remotely - On the Cushycms control panel select the page

you wish to editCode. In the “Edit content” page make your changes and then

“Publish page”.

Adding Editors - This will be normally be your client or their nominated person.

Select the “Add Editor” filling in their name and email address then selecting

Which pages they will be allowed to edit.

A email will be sent to them by Cushycms with instructions on what to do

together with a Password.

Editing these test objects

If you would like to try to edit the test text/photo on this page send me your email address and I will add you to the Cushycms list - Just watch out for their email

Things to look out for

1. Make sure the text box is large enough to fit what text is going to be edited in/out. You could always have the text box with an auto scrollbar, as I have done with this test text box.

2. This test photo has dimensions of 150 x 112 and Cushycms will resize the new photo to match this size. I have not fully tested this and I would have the editors resize the photo to roughly the size you have inserted incase of any distortion occurring.

3. The edited text will not be included in the site search results if used on the web site.

*Note

It has been found since writing this tutorial that some formatting problems can develop when changing the text using cushy. See this thread in the serif forum. Inputting a class after the “cushycms” does help.

So my added code as above has changed to:-

Cushy content edit

Rollover images -You can change the thumbnail and large images remotely with cushy but you can’t use the rollover option within WP. If you read through this page from my site on adding the rollover images you can add the cushy code as above

Tables - After doing some testing it has been found that you can change text with in a html table. If you right click the cell you require to be accessed remotely > attach html and add the code  at the end of the line where it says __AddCode="here"  I have found by adding the code to the whole table the table disappears  when contents has been changed
