Simple db Plus
Once you understood the way the simple db gets put together and merged you can add
other items to your db/repeating area.
1. Web site Hyperlinks
If you wish to put a web address hyperlink within the records there are a number
of options to accomplish this.
Add a new field to your db, name it website. In the records type in the address starting
from the www.
Type 1 Having the website address as the link
- When your ready to put the web address onto the page select the “website” field when
inserting the text field.
- When you have added your website field keep the text field selected and either right
click > Hyperlink or Ctrl+K to have the hyperlink dialogue on screen. Select Internet
page, delete the default http:// and select the small square at the end of the URL
field, this will only be active if your using a database, then select the “website”
field from the “Insert Text Field” dialogue.
Type 2 Having other text as the link
On the repeating area put a normal html text frame and insert any test you wish to
use as the hyperlink i.e. Visit my website, and having the word website as the hyperlink.
Highlight the text and then carry on as in b. Above from the point right click >
hyperlink.
You could also use this option using a graphic and just selecting the graphic before
the right click > hyperlink.
Hyperlinks to a file whose full URL are put into the records, of the db, in a field
named “file” or “download” for instance would give you the opportunity to link to
a PDF or a file to download.
2. Hyperlink to email
As with the website hyperlink there are a number of options to accomplish this.
In place of the website field have a email field putting the contacts email address
when filling out the records.
When inserting the hyperlink YOU MUST select Internet page, NOT Internet email, as
this is the only option that lets you select from a db, delete the default http://
and insert mailto: then select the small square for the db email field.
