Flash Banners

Flash Banners can be found in the Gallery tab > WebPlus gallery > Generic & Template flash banner folders in the studio to the right of the WebPlus work space.

The flash banners are usually put at the top of your web page. If you use the image pop up with blur type banner, the banner actions are restarted when the cursor goes over, it can drive away you visitors if it is found on all pages. It is always advisable to just use it on the home page with a static banner on your remaining pages.

To make a static banner of the flash banner, select the banner and when it has finished loading go to File > Export as picture saving it to import as a picture on your other pages inserting it at the same location as the flash banner. (see photo)

Adjusting Banner looks is very limited. Items you can change are:

1. Pictures

2. Text

3. Title text colour, not bullet text

4. Flash banner background colour

5. Removal of text, not bullet points

Pictures

When wanting to change the photos in the banner you need to get these at the correct size. The best way I have found is to put your chosen banner on a new single page site and publish to a disk folder. If you look in the folder you will find the photos used and you can get their sizes.

Be careful what photos you use as some of the outer edges are not shown, so any main subject needs to be centralised with plenty of space around. If you don’t have a choice and the main subject takes up most of your photo, import it into a photo editor and increase the canvas size before resizing and putting into the banner.

Adding your photos

Delete the default photos from the “Additional files” window on the right side of the flash window then add your own. You can change the photos sequence by arranging these photos in order or by using the Picurl parameter, where you can set a photo to appear more than once.

Text

You can change the title text and bullet text but not the font. Double click the banner to bring up the flash properties.

Title text is controlled by the companyname parameter. Double click this parameter to get the parameter window. The default is %companyname%, in the “value” box, which will pick up the company name set up in Tools > User details.

You can delete the %companyname% and put in anything you wish but there is a restriction on it’s length. You can also insert tokens, which %companyname% is one, check in the WebPlus help about tokens.

Bullet text is controlled by the Line1,2,3 parameters. Double click these parameters to get the parameter window. Delete the default text in the “value” box and insert your text.

You can leave these “value” boxes empty if no text is required.

Text Colour change

The text colour is controlled by the scheme1 parameter. Double click this parameter to get the parameter window. In the “value” box you will find the default setting %scheme1% which relates to the colour scheme you are using. Change it’s number to any in your scheme or delete all the text and input the RGB Hex colour code number. To find the code for the colour you require have a look here at this site or if you right click a text box or Quick shape > format > fill and choose a colour from the palette then edit, if you don’t see a colour you want just select edit. In the next window (colour selector)  pin point the exact colour and in the last box under RGB Hex you will see # and then the number. Replace the # with 0x and add this to the “value” box and preview i.e. 0xEE1C02 as used in the banner above.

Background

If your banner uses a background colour this is controlled by the scheme2 parameter. Double click this parameter to get the parameter window. In the “value” box you will find the default setting %scheme2% which relates to the colour scheme you are using. See the instructions above.
